All the people of the world have been promised a great inheritance by the Creator – an inheritance of both spiritual and material unlimited never-ending power at the appointed time of the “Close of the Age” (Matt. 24:3 RSV) were they to choose to take on the spiritual and everlasting image of God. Man is created in the image of the animal: two eyes, two ears, nose, mouth, arms and legs. The image of God is the qualities and attributes of God that are unending: love, mercy, justice, benevolence, concord, fidelity, harmony, etc. When man takes on the image of God, he becomes like God. God creates man in His image through the Holy Spirit. Through this Spirit man manifests God.
“Man is the supreme Talisman. Lack of a proper EDUCATION hath, however, deprived him of that which he doth inherently possess. Through a word proceeding out of the mouth of God he was called into being; by one word more he was guided to recognize the Source of his education; by yet another word his station and destiny were safeguarded. The Great Being saith: Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom. If any man were to meditate on that which the Scriptures, sent down from the heaven of God's holy Will, have revealed, he would readily recognize that their purpose is that all men shall be regarded as one soul, so that the seal bearing the words 'The Kingdom shall be God's' may be stamped on every heart, and the light of Divine bounty, of grace, and mercy may envelop all mankind. The one true God, exalted be His glory, hath wished nothing for Himself. The allegiance of mankind profiteth Him not, neither doth its perversity harm Him. The Bird of the Realm of Utterance voiceth continually this call: 'All things have I willed for thee, and thee, too, for thine own sake.' If the learned and worldly-wise men of this age were to allow mankind to inhale the fragrance of fellowship and love, every understanding heart would apprehend the meaning of true liberty, and discover the secret of undisturbed peace and absolute composure. Were the earth to attain this station and be illumined with its light it could then be truly said of it: 'Thou shall see in it no hollows or rising hills.' (Baha'u'llah, Gleanings CXXII, pp. 259-260)
Few people have been educated to understand that Our Inheritance is given as a real and Legal promise by God in the Holy books of the past that come down to us today down through the centuries and millennia even as Jesus, the Herald of the Kingdom, promised: “The Kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21 KJV). Therefore the Promise is "within us" in the form of a prophecy that is now fulfilled at the appointed time, that light will win out over dark; and this promise is "within us" (the people of God) in the form of a Covenant, which is legal binding agreement, one in which God himself vows He will not break:
“I will not violate my Covenant, or alter the word that went forth from my lips. Once and for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David. His line shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me. Like the moon it shall be established for ever; it shall stand firm while the skies endure.” (Psalms 89:34-37 RSV)
Thus Our Inheritance is given to us though the fulfillment of the Everlasting Covenant of God.
We see the beginnings of this Promise in the Covenant God gave through Adam: “And then God covenanted, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” (Genesis 1:26) The “us” and the “our” referring to God and the Nine Revelators to be sent to humanity throughout the 6000 years Cycle of Adam (4000 BC to 2001 AD) creating man as one whole and united human family in the spiritual image of God. This same everlasting Covenant (Genesis 9:16) and promise then passed down to Abraham that was then revealed to be it Two Aspects of the Blessing and the Birthright; the Birthright that referred to the “multitude of nations” and the Blessing, which literally means blood-line, that refers to the “everlasting Kingship” of the throne-line. We first read of this Dual Promise of Our Inheritance in Genesis chapter 17:
“When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram, and said to him, "I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless. And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly." Then Abram fell on his face; and God said to him, "Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a MULTITUDE OF NATIONS. No longer shall your name be Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a MULTITUDE OF NATIONS. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make NATIONS of you, and KINGS shall come forth from you. And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an EVERLASTING COVENANT, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.” (Genesis 17:1-7 RSV)
These two aspects therefore are 1) the Blessing of the throne-line of the Kingship of the Throne, and 2) the Birthright (Born Again of the Spirit of God) of the Multitude of Nations. This dual inheritance of the Kingship and Birthright of the nations was passed on down from Abraham to Isaac to Jacob who was called Israel. Israel means “He who wrestles with God”. Then after Jacob/Israel God created a dichotomy and separated the line of inheritance of the Birthright from that of the Blessing: the Birthright of the “Multitude of Nations” went to Joseph to his son Ephraim (which means “multitude of nations” Genesis 48:17-19) which is a prophecy; and the Blessing of the genealogy of the throne-line of Kings which is legal inheritance went to his son Judah from which comes forth the Davidic Kingship that is to last for ever.. We can read this in 1 Chronicles 5:2:
“BIRTHRIGHT was given to the sons of Joseph [Ephraim] the son of Israel; and the genealogy [the Blessing] is NOT to be reckoned after the BIRTHRIGHT. For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the Chief Ruler [throne-line of King David]; but the BIRTHRIGHT was Joseph's” (1 Chronicles 5:1, 2 KJV)
These two aspects of the Everlasting Covenant therefore, became symbolized by two rods, the Birthright being symbolized by a rod of Iron and the Throne-line of the genealogy of David symbolized by a rod of wood, as wood has the power of the vegetable kingdom of growth and reproduction. The rod of Iron represents the spiritual as it is attracted to the magnetic force and as it is formed through purification of an abstracted process from which it is cleansed from nature ore, even as man is created in the image of the animal, but through the spiritual he becomes purified and attracted through the Power of the Spirit of God.
The Birthright, Paul explains in Romans chapter 11 and Galatians chapter 3, is that all the peoples of the world become fellow heirs of the Kingdom along with the descendant of King David as all are considered of the same Tree, the Tree of Life, the Tree of Abraham, the single Tree of the Human Family of God, to which all the people of the world have a share therein as this is the BIRTHRIGHT of all the people of the world. Thus all (men and women alike) are reckoned as spiritual sons of God, sons of Abraham through Faith (Romans 11, Galatians 3). God did this by sending Manifestations to all the nations and people of the world through the progeny of Abraham's three wives that intermarried with all the peoples of the East and the West. From Sarah God sent Moses, Jesus and Baha'u'llah to the world; from Hagar comes Muhammad and the Bab; and from Keturah, whose sons he sent East, comes Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster and again the Bab and Baha'u'llah in the female line. [SEE GENEALOGY CHART OF THE HUMAN RACE FOR MORE]. Thus all the peoples of the world through one of the Nine Great revelators of the Adamic Cycle including Adam himself are poised to receive their inheritance of the everlasting Covenant through the birthright, which is symbolized by a rod of iron.
The rod of wood is symbolic of the Davidic Kingship, which is the everlasting Covenant of the throne-line and genealogy of a father to son inheritance which is to last for ever, that is for the rest of the life of this planet which could be for billions of years yet to come.
Ezekiel sees a vision of these two rods, coming together as ONE SINGLE ROD at the Close of the Age, circa 2001 AD. Thus the rod of Iron and the rod of Wood unite to form a single rod of Gold. The rod of Gold being symbolic of the Infallible light of Divine Guidance. These two rods come together in the prophesied House of the Lord, spoken of in Isaiah chapter 2 as an everlasting Covenant of peace, where the legislative branch is elected from out all the peoples and nations of the world, which is of iron – spiritual; and the rod of wood, the living descendant of King David is seated upon the throne of King David as the Executive Branch of that same House of the Lord. Thus head and body both transformed into a single rod of Gold. The reason that this House is free from all error – or sinless – or infallible – is because if it were to make a mistake – then we would have injustice. Therefore the everlasting Covenant of God confers infallibility upon its decisions that are freed from all error, though the members individually do not possess essential infallibility. Ezekiel sees:
“The word of the LORD came to me: "Son of man, take a stick and write on it, 'For Judah, and the children of Israel associated with him'; then take another stick and write upon it, 'For Joseph (the stick of Ephraim) and all the house of Israel associated with him'; and join them together into one stick, that they may become one in your hand. And when your people say to you, 'Will you not show us what you mean by these?' say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I am about to take the stick of Joseph (which is in the hand of Ephraim) and the tribes of Israel associated with him [the “Multitude of Nations” that shall flow to the House of the Lord (Is. 2)]; and I will join with it the stick of Judah [King David], and make them ONE STICK, that they may be one in my hand. When the sticks on which you write are in your hand before their eyes, then say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from all sides, and bring them to their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; and they shall be no longer two nations, and no longer divided into two kingdoms [East and West]. They shall not defile themselves any more with their idols and their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions; but I will save them from all the backslidings in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. "My servant David shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd [The true Universal House of Justice of Baha'u'llah]. They shall follow my ordinances and be careful to observe my statutes. They shall dwell in the land where your fathers dwelt that I gave to my servant Jacob; they and their children and their children's children shall dwell there for ever; and David my servant shall be their prince for ever. I will make a COVENANT OF PEACE with them; it shall be an EVERLASTING COVENANT with them; and I will bless them and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My dwelling place shall be with them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Then the nations will know that I the LORD sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary [UHJ] is in the midst of them for evermore." (Ez. 37:16-28 RSV)
The rod or stick of Joseph/Ephraim is the rod of iron of the Multitude of Nations and the rod or stick of Judah/David is the rod of wood of the Throne-Line of Kings that are the presidents of the House. 'Abdu'l-Baha also further explains these two rods becoming one single rod of Gold.
“In brief, the Scripture saith: `And he that talked with me had a rod made out of gold, that is, a measure, wherewith he measured the city and the gates thereof and the towers thereof.' The meaning is that certain personages guided the people with a staff grown out of the earth, and shepherded them with a rod, like unto the rod of Moses. Others trained and shepherded the people with a rod of iron, as in the dispensation of Muhammad. And in this present cycle, because it is the mightiest of Dispensations, that rod grown out of the vegetable kingdom and that rod of iron will be transformed into a rod of purest gold, taken from out the endless treasure houses in the Kingdom of the Lord. By this rod will the people be trained.
”Note well the difference: at one time the Teachings of God were as a staff, and by this means the Holy Scriptures were spread abroad, the Law of God was promulgated and His Faith established. Then followed a time when the staff of the true Shepherd was as iron. And today, in this new and splendid age, the rod is even as pure gold. How wide is the difference here! Know, then, how much ground hath been gained by the Law of God and His Teachings in this dispensation, how they have reached such heights that they far transcend the dispensations gone before: truly this rod is purest gold, while those of other days were of iron and wood.” ('Abdu'l-Baha, Selections, p. 166-7)
Thus the Lesser Covenants of the past and previous temporary dispensations which were symbolized by either wood or iron now become fused together in the single rod of Gold in the permanent global and everlasting Covenant. In alchemical terms the philosopher's stone (the living rock was Christ (1 Cor. 10:4), the anointed son of David) which has the power to turn lead or iron into Gold, is also symbolized by the throne of David which is the six pointed star of David surrounded within a full circle representing the everlasting Covenant of God, the rainbow around the throne (Rev. 4:2,3).
Through the power of the Everlasting Covenant all our sins are forgiven. The sins of this world which man has made into a garbage heap (Gehenna) will be transformed away and this world will become a paradise itself through the union of representation of all the people of the world (iron) with the living David King (wood) that forms the true Council, in which all the difficult problems are to be solved.
“Although a republican form of government profiteth all the peoples of the world, yet the majesty of kingship is one of the signs of God. We do not wish that the countries of the world should remain deprived thereof. If the sagacious combine the two forms [wood and iron] into one [gold], great will be their reward in the presence of God.” (Baha'u'llah, 15th Glad-Tiding)
“This House of Justice [body and head both] enacteth the laws and the government [executive branch of the Davidic Kings] enforceth them. The legislative body must reinforce the executive, the executive must aid and assist the legislative body so that through the close union and harmony of these two forces, the foundation of fairness and justice may become firm and strong, that all the regions of the world may become even as Paradise itself.” (Will and Testament of 'Abdu'l-Baha, p. 15)
Today we enter the Full Light of God! The prophecy is fulfilled and the Kingdom is established upon the earth. As this message grows and the people become educated to their true Inheritance in the Kingdom and into the unassailable reality of the everlasting Covenant, this Light of God shining through the Lamp of the true UHJ with the living Davidic King in each and every generation as its presence will be able to have a lasting effect and real impact on the affairs of the people, both as individuals freed from sin, and globally as a society freed from all error.
